About Dance June Lewis & Company

June Lewis was  born in Brooklyn, N.Y.  Her teachers  included Neichi Nimura, Edward Caton, Erik Hawkins, and Martha Graham. In 1968, she founded her own dance company, Dance June Lewis & Company. As a maker of dancers, and choreographer of over fifty works, her direction and teaching has made a profound impact on those, and especially us, the dancers, who have been touched by her work.

As many have been linked to June Lewis by our past, five of us remain to carry on and seek to embrace new directions for the future of the company. After a hiatus from performance, we who have endured, now resume, still living the dream, hoping by our dance to present and preserve the spirit which is Dance June Lewis & Company.
